Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are an essential part of our organization!
Throughout the year, the Hudson Family Foundation will post monthly volunteer opportunities for you and your family to participate in. Whether you are an individual looking for a one-time or long-term opportunity, a corporate partner seeking additional ways to get involved, or you have a special skill you’d like to share, the Hudson Family Foundation has an outlet for you to volunteer!
If you would like to be notified of upcoming volunteer opportunities, please contact Marci Manning, Hudson Family Foundation Volunteer Coordinator, at 404.797.4903 or via email at marcimanning@me.com.
Atlanta Ronald McDonald House:
The Hudson Family Foundation will participate in the Atlanta Ronald McDonald House Family Meal
Program on:
October 13, 2011
November 10, 2011
December 13, 2011
Each night, fifteen (15) volunteers are needed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. to prepare and serve dinner for approximately 50 guests staying at the house. Food should be made in advance and delivered in disposable containers and re-heated prior to serving.
Volunteers for these opportunities should be at least 16 years old. If you are interested in participating on any of these dates, please call Marci Manning, Hudson Family Foundation Volunteer Coordinator, at 404.797.4903 or email her at marcimanning@me.com. Be sure to indicate what date preference you have, if any.
The Zone@Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – DECEMBER 6, 2011:
Children need a place for fun and laughter. That is especially true while they are recovering from an illness or injury. The Zone at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite was created to help children, teenagers and their families forget—for at least a little while—they are at the hospital. In The Zone, children, teenagers and their families can relax, watch a movie or play video games. It’s a place where doctors and nurses are allowed, but only if they want to play….and that’s what we will be doing!
We are in need of 5-6 volunteers who like to join us for some “play time” from 6:00pm – 8:00pm. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. If you are interested in participating, please call Marci Manning, Hudson Family Foundation Volunteer Coordinator, at 404.797.4903 or email her at marcimanning@me.com.
Bone Marrow Campaign:
This is Irery Pinon, a vibrant 11 year old girl who enjoyed talking with friends and had dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Irery was diagnosed with Leukemia on October 29, 2008. After several months of treatment, fears were replaced with hope as doctors were able to get Irery into remission, and her courage and feisty spirit provided her family the strength to carry through.
However just a short year later, the family’s life came crashing down once again after a bone marrow biopsy revealed the Leukemia cells had returned. The discussion of a bone marrow transplant became the topic during their family dinners and gatherings, and the hope that one of Irery’s siblings would be a perfect match to save her life disappeared when unfortunately none of her siblings were a match. After a long and unsuccessful search for a bone marrow donor, sweet Irery lost her battle with Leukemia this past April, 2010.
We have met many children through our foundation, like Irery, who are in need of a bone marrow transplant. The Hudson Family Foundation strongly encourages you to take the first step to become a bone marrow donor today. Join the Be the Match Registry and you could be the one who could make a life saving transplant possible!
